At a time when the worldwide popularity of ukulele continues to build demand for excellent instruction, Holly presents uke folk an approach that promises applicability and accountability for generations to come. She accomplishes this by giving priority to music’s principal structure. By understanding this structure, students can facilitate meaningful growth that goes well beyond music and ukulele.

FIVE STARS for Holly Rudin-Braschi’s “Holly’s Ukulele Method!” A wonderful and friendly introduction for anyone who wants to start playing the Uke. This book provides clear and easy-to-follow instructions on getting started (including getting to know your Uke, the parts, how to hold, how to strum, etc.) through quickly learning how to actually play songs! With each lesson you progress to new chords and on to new and more complex songs, combining chords and notes. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in learning to play the ukulele and with an added bonus of learning to read music if you don’t already!!

As an ukulele teacher in a library setting, I have students with a variety of skill levels which corresponds to their musical interest and aspiration. I am very pleased with the Holly’s Ukulele Method™. It is concise and clear with great examples and pictures of correct positions and process. My students respond positively to the layout and progression of the material. I have introduced this method book to elementary school music teachers throughout a local district as they begin their adventure of incorporating a segment of ukulele into their formal classrooms. I feel confident that Holly’s Ukulele Method™ will give them a good path to proper teaching and playing. This lends itself well to the structure of a traditional classroom, while providing the flexibility for creativity in lessons to insure each student’s development!
